They should not be considered as transient artifacts, used for one purpose and then thrown away. Rather, they should be carefully curated, used repeatedly, and improved over time. They are a key asset and, following Data-Centric principles, they should be at the center of the applications.

“How to Move Beyond a Monolithic Knowledge Graph to a Distributed Knowledge Mesh”

Creating an Enterprise Knowledge Graph is a complex challenge that involves the entire organization. A top-down approach, where a central team of information architects designs the ontology and then one or more data steward teams link it to the managed data assets, simply doesn’t scale. Centralized modeling teams quickly become a bottleneck, leaving most new data assets disconnected from the knowledge graph turning it into a cathedral in the desert.

In this talk, we’ll delve into the knowledge mesh, a new distributed, sustainable, and value-driven approach to building an enterprise knowledge graph incrementally, one data product at a time.
