Designing and Building Business Ontologies, DBBO

The Essential Foundation Course for Semantically Enabling Your Enterprise

Semantic technologies represent knowledge in a way that both people and computers can understand.  Ontologies are the fundamental building blocks of semantic technology.  Once relationships are organized into an ontology, a computer can classify data appropriately, analyze it based on the predetermined relationships and infer new knowledge based on this analysis.

Designing and Building Business Ontologies (DBBO) is our foundation course for semantically enabling your enterprise. This workshop covers the practical issues in building and using ontologies. This class is recommended for forward-thinking technology and business leaders who are interested in harnessing the power of Semantic Technology for their organizations.

Designing & Building Business Ontologies will enable you to:

  • Understand what an ontology is and its business applications.
  • Understand how representing information in an ontology goes beyond a conceptual model or a simple taxonomy.
  • Understand the difference between frame-based/declarative classes and description logic-based/derivable classes.
  • Understand the basic principles for designing ontologies for corporate applications.
